Hypnos Group Managing Director David Baldry joins the Commercial Interiors UK Board

Hypnos is proud to announce that our Group Managing Director, David Baldry, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Commercial Interiors UK (CIUK).

CIUK is a not-for-profit UK trade association for the commercial interiors sector, championing accredited commercial interior furnishing suppliers and manufacturers and supporting them to grow, connect, and lead in a globally competitive marketplace. This includes promoting best practice, supporting professional development, championing innovation, and helping to raise standards across the industry

David Baldry is Group Managing Director of Hypnos, with over 20 years’ experience leading and transforming businesses. He leads Hypnos’ continued growth, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, hospitality, and exceptional sleep experiences.

CIUK is owned by its members and as such reflects the range of businesses and perspectives across the membership.  This ensures its strategic, financial and commercial decisions are informed by relevant industry experience as it works towards the ambitions set out in its 2026–2029 Strategy and responds to the feedback received through its 2026 Member Survey.

The appointments follow a recruitment model introduced by CIUK earlier in 2026, to strengthen its Council. That process resulted in seven new representatives joining the Council, creating a twelve-strong body drawn from across the CIUK membership. The same principles were then applied to Board recruitment.

CIUK member companies invited representatives at Director level and above to register interest. Selected applicants met with CIUK Chairman Stuart Taylor and Managing Director Sean Holt before being considered by the existing Board, which made the final appointments.

CIUK also considered product categories and sectors, as members operate across workplace, hospitality, care, cruise, education and other commercial markets. The process also considered target markets and company backgrounds, including UK-focused and internationally active businesses, and both UK-founded and internationally founded organisations. This helps ensure that CIUK’s services and priorities remain relevant to a wide range of member businesses.

The process also sought to introduce a wider range of ages and career experience to the Board. Gender balance has now been achieved across the CIUK Council, while greater gender balance on the Board remains an objective for future recruitment.

CIUK has welcomed five new Directors:

• David Baldry, Hypnos: Group Managing Director of Hypnos, with over 20 years’ experience leading and transforming businesses. 
• Emilio Mudrak, Mudrak & Sons: Managing Director of an A+D flooring specification and supply business, focused on raising standards through trusted relationships and honest advice.
• Laura Martinez McGregor, Luma Mirrors: Founder and Managing Director, with over 15 years’ experience in hospitality and fit-out, specialising in bespoke illuminated and framed mirrors.
• Mark Poulain, ABI Interiors: Commercial Director, with 20 years in the A&D community and previous service as Vice Chair, keen to connect manufacturers and designers.
• Warren Stimson, Concept Contract: Founder of Concept Contract Furnishings, supplying bespoke soft furnishings and installation across the UK and Europe.
