At Hypnos, we're proud that our decade-long commitment to carbon neutrality and eco friendly product gained us ‘The Planet Mark - Carbon Neutral Certification’.
Having been carbon neutral for over a decade and offsetting over 10,294 tonnes of CO2e along the way, we have demonstrated our pioneering and long-running environmental credentials since becoming the first bed manufacturer in the world to do so.
When it came to carbon reduction and tackling our footprint, we implemented a range of robust measures which focused on using renewable natural resources, and making sure that all our product designs and ethical bed production were focused on low-carbon solutions.
net zero commitTED
In September 2025, Hypnos proudly announced that we had become Planet Mark Certified - Net Zero Committed. This means we commit to achieving net zero by 2040, as well as its near-term targets by 2033. Guided by our certification partner Planet Mark, we will follow a pathway to significantly reduce our carbon emissions through targets that align with the principles of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) Corporate Net Zero Standard.
Steve Malkin, founder of The Planet Mark, says that “Committing to a net zero transition plan is a significant milestone for any business and involves measuring and understanding a business’s complete carbon footprint across Scopes 1-3. This roadmap is the culmination of a team effort to understand and measure the emissions in what is a complex supply chain. Since our partnership began in 2019, Hypnos has demonstrated its willingness to understand and engage, and make the necessary changes to decarbonise. This is the next big leap for a company that has already taken positive steps in the right direction, having been carbon neutral for almost 15 years.”
For over a decade, Hypnos has ensured sustainability infiltrates every area of our business. For that reason, our products are made with all-natural and sustainable fibres, meaning they’re fully recyclable, foam-free and don’t end up at landfill sites at the end of their lifetime. To achieve this, we ensure that all Hypnos mattresses are free of harmful and allergy-related chemicals by avoiding any use of synthetic, chemical-based foams or memory foams.
Steve Malkin continues “understanding and reducing the impact that your business has on the planet is essential, and we know that Hypnos has been unrelenting in its pursuit of truly sustainable beds, delivering outstanding products for both its customers and the planet. We’re pleased to see such a strong commitment to the environment and to social responsibility from a well-known and respected British brand and it’s great to work together to achieve common environmental goals.”
The Planet Mark is committed to the United Nations Decade of Action, which covers everything from sustainable living to climate change and creating a circular economy. It is a highly distinguished sustainability certification for businesses in the UK and internationally, recognising continuous improvements within a company across a wide range of areas including building strong employee engagement to create a sustainable culture.
Hypnos takes an active role in climate change, carbon reduction, preserving natural resources and minimising single-use plastic pollution to protect the planet. Not only do we support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, but our Chief Executive Officer, James Keen, has also personally pledged Hypnos’ support to His Majesty King Charles III's (formerly HRH The Prince of Wales) Sustainable Markets Initiative Terra Carta recovery plan to put the planet first.

Our Industry-leading Low-emission Fleet
Hypnos' fleet of Volvo FH Electric trucks, the first DFDS-operated HGEVs in the UK, mark a significant milestone in our decarbonisation journey and enable us to deliver mattresses across the country with zero tailpipe emissions.
The trucks join our existing logistics fleet that is already running on renewable bio-diesel (HVO) derived from waste fats and oils, achieving over a 66% reduction in CO2e compared to running on fossil-fuel-derived diesel for the same route.
