Maximise Your Bedroom Storage

When it comes to your sleep sanctuary, a tidy space not only breeds a tidy mind, it also creates a calm haven and a room that’s easier for you to relax and sleep in. In fact, de-cluttering is the perfect way to de-stress and create a bedroom that’s free from disorder and perfect for sleep.

This year, Marie Kondo started a trend of decluttering. The KonMari Method™ encourages tidying by category – not by location – beginning with clothes, then moving on to books, papers, miscellaneous items, and, finally, sentimental items. “Keep only those things that speak to the heart, and discard items that no longer spark joy. Thank them for their service – then let them go.” And, at Hypnos, we also believe having a clear out of your living space can make you more focused, relaxed and productive, especially when focusing on the bedroom.

So, what better time to start to re-organise your home in a bid to keep a calm mind. Here, Hypnos’ interior designer, Samantha Parrish and Hypnos’ sleep and wellbeing expert, Natalie Pennicotte-Collier, offer their helpful tips and advice on how to turn your bedroom into an oasis of calm.

“De-clutter gently”, recommends Hypnos’ interior designer, Samantha Parrish

“Having a good clear out and getting rid of unwanted clutter can do wonders for how you feel, but be careful not to be too ruthless.

Be kind to yourself and your possessions and make sure you keep anything of sentimental value as memories are precious.

Find practical storage solutions which offer clever use of space to keep belongings tidy – it also makes sense to optimise the space under the bed.”
