R.I.S.E. Up To A New Level Of Sleep Wellness

It’s World Sleep Day, and this year’s theme is all about the importance of sleep on your health and well-being. As our mornings and evenings get lighter, we may be finding it slightly easier to spring out of bed, however, for those of you that need a little help waking up on the right side of the bed, we are here to help.

Your mattress plays an integral role in making sure you get a truly restful night’s sleep which is why we make high-quality, sustainably-made beds and mattresses to suit everyone’s needs. Not only that, our beds come with peace of mind knowing they’ve been ethically designed, as a good night’s sleep really shouldn’t cost our Earth.

Luckily, Hypnos’ resident sleep expert Natalie Pennicotte-Collier [MSc, MBCT, D.CHyp, MNCH, DHybKG, Reg CNHC] is on hand to guide you through some simple steps to improve your sleep routine, starting today. Natalie has created R.I.S.E. for everyone to follow to enable better sleep, backed by science.

What does R.I.S.E. mean?

R.I.S.E. is a simple sleep routine that’s suitable for all, consisting of some cost-free techniques that can help you to manage your sleep well-being. By practising the R.I.S.E. routine for just a week with consistency and patience, you could feel the benefit to not only your sleep quality but also your overall well-being.

Here’s what R.I.S.E. means:

Reinforce your circadian rhythm. A circadian rhythm is a natural, internal process that regulates your sleep/wake cycle, and repeats every 24 hours. There are a variety of benefits to waking up at a fixed time every day, including keeping your digestive system and metabolism in balance.

Invite light into your room; throw the curtains wide or roll those blinds up. You should do this as soon as possible in the morning – it is scientifically proven to improve sleep quality and overall well-being.

Spend time outside each day. Good sleep health starts in the day - just five minutes could have a profound effect on your mental health, making it easier to wind down at night.

Embrace dusk light. An evening walk, or simply taking in the dusk evening light by standing outside for 2-10 minutes, can help improve your sleeping pattern.

So, whether World Sleep Day prompts you to break a bad evening habit, follow the R.I.S.E sleep routine or even purchase a new bed, be sure that waking up in the right bed will definitely give you the best start to your day. It might even be life-changing, now there’s a thought!
